Options and Prices
The Short Version
You choose the kind of shoot you want, the number of images you want, and the kind of optimizing you want. Simple as that. At the end of the photo shoot you pay me for exactly what you want. You aren’t forced into a package deal where you end up paying for something you don’t want.
We will take the time we need to create images you will cherish for years to come. I don’t like rushed, assembly line, “15 minute per client” photo sessions and I bet you don’t either. I prefer a more thorough approach that captures the personalities of the people I work with.
I retouch/optimize your photos in the digital darkroom so your images look their very best. If you haven’t looked at it already, go through the page on retouching options.
Unlimited Prints
Whether or not you want the convenience of ordering prints from my professional photo lab, I give you the optimized (retouched) images files. You can make all the prints you want, any time you want, anywhere you want. If you are looking for a great professional lab that charges very reasonable prices for archival prints, see the last section below.
My Work Is Guaranteed.
If we get to the end of the photo shoot and you don’t love the images, we call it a day and you own me nothing.
Design Your Own Package
Everyone wants something a little different so I don’t believe in cookie cutter “one size fits all” pricing. You choose what you want. We will discuss the type of photo session you want and the kind of retouching you prefer. At the end of the photo shoot you pick the images you want optimized and pay me. I will optimize your images and send them to you via Dropbox, email, or a DVD in the mail. Here are some examples and prices, but you aren’t limited to these options. You can have however many images you want.
Portraits
Business headshot, 1 image file (standard retouch) – $100
Business headshot, 2 image files (standard retouch) – $150
Model, actor, or business headshot, 1 image file (enhanced retouch) – $120
Model, actor, or business headshot, 2 image files (enhanced retouch) – $180
Children’s photo session, 3 image files (minimal retouch) – $150
Children’s photo session, 6 image files (minimal retouch) – $240
Individual photo session, 3 image files (standard retouch) – $210

Photos of you, your hobby, your business, you in action, your employees in action. $240 – $360.
Birth Photography
Birth photography is increasingly popular, and, for obvious reasons, highly unpredictable. Birth photography means I am limited in terms of what else I can schedule near the due date. More and more couples want a professional photographer to record these wonderful and blessed moments, and hospitals are generally prepared to have a licensed, insured professional photographer in the room. Birth photography is $300-600.
Events/Sports
My rate for events depends on the length of the event, and the total number of photos you want. At two different events, each two hours long, the person in charge of one event said “Send me the 20 best photos” and the person responsible for the other event wanted 100 photos. It’s your choice. Depending on the number of photos you want, my event/sports rate is $100 – $200 per hour of event shooting time (which includes doing the tonality adjustments after the event is over).
Weddings
I do a select number of weddings. If you are interested, let’s talk. Most weddings are between $1000 – $2000, depending on the length of the wedding. That includes a complete retouch of 10 – 12 of your favorite images (just like a portrait shoot) and a tonality adjustment of the rest of the images (just like an event). Additional options are also available like a calendar with 12 of your wedding photos (one for each month), and a bound book with a selection of your wedding images.
The Proof Is In The Prints
In the good old days every photographer had a store front on Main Street so you could look at their prints in the window and judge their quality. That is no longer true. Some of the best portrait photographers have opted to have their studio in their home, or shoot mostly on location, so they no longer have a studio on Mains Street with big prints on display. But looking at big prints (11×14 and larger) is still the best way to judge the quality of a photographer’s work. You are welcome to make an appointment to come look at my prints.
